Travelling

Please note that your passport needs to be valid for at least 4 months beyond your planned return

There are daily direct flights from the USA to OR Tambo International in Johannesburg, South Africa. Use the travel agent of your choice (we can recommend Gracy Travel for US residents) to book your flights to South Africa, we recommend Delta or United as they have direct flights available.

If you brought your own rifles you MUST fly to Port Elizabeth from OR Tambo Johannesburg (South Africa).

Once your rifles are cleared at OR Tambo (Johannesburg, South Africa), you need to take a connection flight with SA Airlink, Fly Safair, or CEM Air to Port Elizabeth. If you made use of the strongly recommended pre- approved rifle permit service a representative will meet you, help you clear your rifles and get you on your domestic flight with your firearms. This service can also be offered when returning home. Do not use other airlines than listed above for this connection flight as these are the only carriers that allows firearms to be transported on domestic flights. African Great Safaris will meet and welcome you at Port Elizabeth airport with your rifles. From there, it is roughly a 2 hour drive to the hunting camp.

When your safari is concluded we can drop you off at Port Elizabeth airport. We will discuss all these options with you when planning your safari.

We can help you book your flight and plan your whole safari, a representative will meet you at the airport and pre-approve your GUN PERMITS if you made use of this service. All of this is strongly recommended to ensure that you have a trouble free experience when hunting with African Great Safaris – a service you can rely on!

We strongly recommend that you take out travel and cancellation insurance. A trip travel protection plan is available through SCI.

When booking your safari it is essential that you arrive on the day before your first hunting day and leave the day after your last hunting day.
